About
Karla Schradi (b. 1998) is a photographer based in Bielefeld, Germany. She graduated in Photography at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Bielefeld. Besides her B.A. study she has been working as a freelance photographer. Her work is characterized by a clear and playful perspective that captures the essence of contemporary life with simple yet effective means.
Her projects have been exhibited internationally, including The Enemy of a Solid Box (Copeland Gallery, London, 2023), Standort 13 (Detmolder Design Week, 2024, co-organized), and Sofia (HSBI-Satellite, Bielefeld, 2024). Her first handmade photobook foto exkursion was presented in the latter. Editorially, she has contributed to Spiegel Start Magazine(Issue 4/2023). In 2024, she was nominated as a finalist for the Breda Photo Festival Talent Program, further establishing her as an emerging voice in contemporary photography.
In her personal projects she focusses on questions about her own identity and her role in society. For her, photography is a constant learning about life and the development of a better understanding of society. She is in demand for photo assignments for her clear and playful view of things. She tries to capture the spirit of the times with simple means, without using a distinctive visual style.
